چکیده

In automated container terminals, containers are transported from the marshalling yard to a ship and vice versa by automated vehicles. The automated vehicle type studied in this paper is an automated lifting vehicle (ALV) that is capable of lifting a container from the ground by itself. This study discusses how to dispatch ALVs by utilizing information about pickup and delivery locations and time in future delivery tasks. A mixed-integer programming model is provided for assigning optimal delivery tasks to ALVs. A procedure for converting buffer constraints into time window constraints and a heuristic algorithm for overcoming the excessive computational time required for solving the mathematical model are suggested. Numerical experiments are reported to compare the objective values and computational times by a heuristic algorithm with those by an optimizing method and to analyze the effects of dual cycle operation, number of ALVs, and buffer capacity on the performance of ALVs. 2008 Elsevier Ltd. Optimizing the Static and Dynamic Scheduling problem of Automated Guided Vehicles in Container Terminals

The Minimum Cost Flow (MCF) problem is a well-known problem in the area of network optimisation. To tackle this problem, Network Simplex Algorithm (NSA) is the fastest solution method. NSA has three extensions, namely Network Simplex plus Algorithm (NSA+), Dynamic Network Simplex Algorithm (DNSA) and Dynamic Network Simplex plus Algorithm (DNSA+). The objectives of the research reported in this...

Cost Function Modelling for Semi-automated SC, RTG and Automated and Semi-automated RMG Container Yard Operating Systems

This study analyses the concept of cost functions for semi-automated Straddle Carrier (SC), Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) and automated Rail Mounted Gantry (RMG) container yard operating cranes. It develops a generic cost based model for a pair-wise comparison, analysis and evaluation of economic efficiency and effectiveness of container yard equipment to be used for decision-making by terminal pla...

Scheduling Single-Load and Multi-Load AGVs in Container Terminals

In this paper, three solutions for scheduling problem of the Single-Load and Multi-Load Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in Container Terminals are proposed. The problem is formulated as Constraint Satisfaction and Optimization. When capacity of the vehicles is one container, the problem is a minimum cost flow model. This model is solved by the highest performance Algorithm, i.e. Network Simple...

Robotised Inter Terminal Transport of Containers a Simulation Study at the Rotterdam Port Area

In this contribution we present a generic object oriented simulation model for overland transport of containers. The main entities in the model are containers, container terminals and vehicles for transportation of containers. A terminal or service center may have several handling centres which are the nodal points for inter terminal transport (ITT). Handling centres possess equipment for loadi...

Scheduling in Container Terminals using Network Simplex Algorithm

In static scheduling problem, where there is no change in situation, the challenge is that the large problems can be solved in a short time. In this paper, the Static Scheduling problem of Automated Guided Vehicles in container terminal is solved by the Network Simplex Algorithm (NSA). The algorithm is based on graph model and their performances are at least 100 times faster than traditional si...
